FinBehaviour Hackathon '26 Presented by FINNMIN | Incubated and Supported by STPI FinBlue, MeitY, Government of India
Is Fintech actually changing how we behave with money?
India doesn't have a Fintech access problem anymore. Payments are instant. Credit is a tap away. Investing takes minutes.
And yet people still overspend. Delay saving. Fall for scams. Struggle to build habits that stick.
So here's the real question: What if the next big Fintech innovation isn't about speed or convenience but about behaviour?
That's exactly what FinBehaviour Hackathon '26 is here to explore.
What is this?
FinBehaviour Hackathon is FINNMIN's campus innovation challenge where students come together to design solutions that address the behavioural side of finance - tools, ideas,
and interventions that don't just make money easier to use, but make people genuinely better at managing it.
Round 1 was successfully conducted at DG Vaishnav College School of Management, Chennai - where 7 high-potential ideas were shortlisted. Now, we're bringing it to Shiv Nadar University Chennai.
Who can participate?
This hackathon is open to:
• College students - any stream, any year. Finance background not required.
• School students (Grades 8–12) - yes, you're invited too. If you've ever wondered why people make bad money decisions, this is your stage.
Whether you're a budding entrepreneur, a curious thinker, a designer, a coder, or someone who just cares about how people relate to money - you belong here.
What to expect on the day
• A structured ideation and pitching challenge
• Mentorship from Finnmin and partner experts
• Top ideas shortlisted for subsequent rounds leading to the Grand Finale
• Certificates for all participants
• An experience that's bigger than a hackathon - it's a conversation about reshaping how a generation earns, spends, and saves
